Text Box: Fundraising Update
Our first fundraiser of the year was Sally Foster.  Friends of Carden kept 50% of gross sales.  We sold around $9,000 so approximately $4,500 will be kept for the school.  This is a great start to our year!
The Scarecrow contest and auction is in full swing.  Bid sheets with information about the contest and auction have been sent home in this past Fridays’ folder.  There will be a judging for best class scarecrow.  The class that wins will enjoy an ice-cream party. The bid sheets that were sent home are for parents who are unable to attend the auction. $80 is the min. bid for each scarecrow. The auction will be held on GPD at 2:45pm.  We are hoping to create a new tradition here at The Carden School of Santa Cruz.
We had our first Treat sale this past Friday.  Carmel apples were sold and profits went to Friends of Carden.
The Subaru raffle is to begin the 10th of October.  Carden will keep 100% of the money received through the sale of tickets by our school. Our goal is to have each student sell 10 – 12 tickets so we can make $4,000.   Each child will receive a packet with tickets, directions and information on Wednesday the 10th.
I have started planning and pulling a committee together for our largest fundraiser which is a spring auction.  I am hoping to have a meeting by the end of November.
I am looking forward to a great year of fundraising.  The kids seem to love all the activity.

Text Box: Public Relations and Marketing

The Public Relations and Marketing Committee, headed by Adrian Alejandro,  is in full gear!  The main focus will be on recruiting & retaining families to our school.
Some of the activities that we will be or are currently working on are:                                             *Evaluating and implementing a media advertising program to recruit volunteers in order to staff outreach booths and info centers at appropriate community events.                                                     *Improving web presence and upgrading the look and feel of both the Carden school and Friends of Carden web sites.                                                                                                                 *Communicating with a quarterly newsletter.                                                                                  *Developing an email distribution process for current and potential student families.
This is the beginning of our program! As we grow,  we will continue to evolve and incorporate more efficient methods of reaching interested families.  Any and all suggestions for outreach are welcome!
We’d love your input!  Contact Adrian Alejandro alejadrian@gmail.com
